So you may be asking what it is and why its called "Welfare Dinner"??? Well its basically a version of Fried rice made with breakfast sausage. Ha... there we go... now I got you attention don't I??? Who doesn't enjoy a good fried rice.
We call it "Welfare Dinner" because it basically takes roughly $5 to make. So heres the ingrediants you need and instructions on how to make it.
Ingredients:
2 cups of rice
6 eggs
Milk
Salt Pepper
Soy Sauce
Breakfast Sausage (I prefer Farmer John brand)
Electric skillet
Okay so start by cooking the rice (you can use instant but I prefer real rice in a rice cooker)
While thats cooking start frying up the sausage (you can used 1 pack but its sooo much better with 2!!!)
Then start scrambling up the 6 eggs
By now the rice and the sausage should be done. Remove the sausage from the skillet and cut up into smaller bite size pieces. Now listen up.... this is very very importante!!! Do not... I repeat DO NOT throw the grease from the sausage away.... thats right dudes!!!! We're gonna use all that fatty greasy goodness!!!!
Add the rice to the skillet and and begin to mix with the sausage grease. Then add the sausage back in and add in the soy sauce.
Stir fry baby!!!
After a few minutes add in the scrambled eggs
Add salt, pepper, and more soy sauce to taste, and there you have it... "Welfare Dinner"
